References to a "high spirit" slumbering within Mob are revealed to be literal. His overwhelming Psychic power comes from him being the long-term vessel of a spirit of immense magnitude. It only shows itself truly when he's at ???%. The final battle is not against the boys of claw, but a battle against the Spirit which has finally grown restless being inside Mob.
After it's exorcized, Mob is left as a totally normal person. Reigen freaks out because his agency is in trouble, Dimple immediately starts cozying up to Ritsu, etc. Funny stuff.
The journalist girl reveals his identity to the Psycho Helmet Cult but, since he now has no powers, they assume it was a case of mistaken identity and move on.
Mob works up the nerve to confess to Tsubomi-chan. As she walks by, he is visibly convicted. He doesn't say anything to her. Dimple chides him for being wimpy, and Mob reveals that he actually doesn't care that much about Tsubomi-chan anymore. Final shot is him jogging into the sunset with the body improvement club.

Mob goes berserk, Saitama walks by and punches him. The end.
The Claw leader breaks out something new, makes Mob go berserk. Mob then has to regain his consciousness and convince the spirit inside him that it's doing the wrong thing. Reigen helps out in awakening mob, along with all his friends. This convinces the Claw leader he was wrong, and he becomes a proper dad while Mob continues to strive in his daily life without psychic powers.

Mob's stories are fun. I can't think of a single particular reason why they stand out to me, but they do. Can you?
They are fairly self aware in a lot of ways, and the main character may not always be the focus (For instance, so much of OPM is about other heroes, much of MobPsycho follows Reigen or Ritsu or even Dimple). I enjoy the themes of both, I suppose, but I just can't put my finger on what it is that makes the two works stand out, as they do have a lot of similarities beyond the superficial, and I find it very appealing.
I enjoy the random elements of the macabre and supernatural appearing and the way characters react to it, I suppose. My favorite manga of all time is probably Neuro, which sort of did that in a similar way, and also had a lot of the straight man / funny man stuff that is quite present in both ONE works. I don't think most japanese works really appeal to a western sense of humor so well, in that they either overdo it (For example, Neuro had a lot of physical humor and sight gags, but still didn't go full looney toons outside of a few moments) or rely purely on lots of puns and wordplay which are frequently lost in translation.
Can anyone think of any similar works?
