Finished Eureka 7 a couple weeks ago. What did you guy think of it? I quite liked it, even if it was quite drawn out.
Would have been better without the annoying kids cockblocking renton at every turn.
I Liked it, I liked the character, and somewhat I liked also AO, but I don't know why.
It was pretty garbage fampai. Also fuck Hollande.
Loved it desu.
Gets a lot of hate on /a/ for some reason. It's greatest quality is the character development and interactions. It's just fun overall and a worthwhile experience. I watched it twice.
While the real plot is kinda lacking, its a sweet coming of age story
Also design and music were top tier.
It's been a while since I saw it, but I really enjoyed it, until it hit that part where Eureka and Renton got trapped on that island and she got butterfly wings for some reason. Really murdered the pacing for like, 5 episodes.
It's great.
I didn't find the kids annoying.
AO is complete garbage tho.
>>134621680
That was the ending part. It was kinda predictable about what was going to happen.
It was 25 episodes too long, I feel it could have been more compressed.
But I did enjoy it. Flying surfboard transformers was pretty cool. And the Gekko is my shipfu.
>>134623014
"Shipfu" is a thing now?
>>134623068
Why wouldn't it be?
>>134623014
I think 50 was good. Characters were well fleshed out in that time and it was pretty relaxing. Although the last few episodes should have been paced better.
>>134623014
I think it was just paced weirdly. First half was 90% character development and 10% plot. Second half was the reverse. Obviously the first half was better and I would have preferred that sort of pacing throughout, but the whole package would have been better if the plot and character development were more evenly distributed. I thought the scub war plot was boring though so if it was excised entirely I wouldn't have minded.
>>134623166
The ending left me with wanting more. We never got a proper closing. The Coralion core thing got destroyed and they almost reached the limit. I feel that a little less filler and another 1-2 final episodes would had made it a much better show overall.
>>134621756
Everyone seems to hate AO. Why exactly? Did they pull a deus ex machina or some bullshit like that?
Great designs and awesome OST.
It was great. Renton was the best MC.
But seriously fuck those little kids
>>134624025
>Did they pull a deus ex machina or some bullshit like that?
they had a deus ex machina GUN
also worst villain in mecha
also bad characters
also shit on E7's characters and their happiness
also had none of the 60s hippie atmosphere and references that set the original apart why in the FUCK was it even called e7
good music, not as good as the original's though
>>134624169
Sounds like a shit fest. I guess that's what happens when you switch directors. Who the fuck thought that was a good idea.
Best Bones' anime.
I was moved and cried many times. Renton and Eureka are the best couple in my mind.
By the way, AO is shit. Shou Aikawa is bullshiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit.
>>134624320
The director was not switched. They switched the scripter.
>>134624919
It has stuck with me for weeks now. Haven't had an anime stick with me for so long since Code Geass. Really missed that feeling.
Best OST.
Boring overall but had memorable episodes that stand out and stick with you.
Renton's almost as big of a faggot as Shinji but his development is okay.
Eureka was like my first waifu other than like Kagome or something so that's a plus.
>>134625782
When Renton left Gekkostate, met Charles and Ray, the story was not boring at all.
>>134625938
Loved that ark personally. That was when we saw the most character development for Renton and the relationship grow between Renton and Eureka.
>>134625384
Alot of people complain it drags on but I think having the show be such a long journey is what made it so memorable.
When everything comes together it really feels like the end of an epic story, and not just another anime.
One day I hope they'll make a sequel. To think this show never got a movie, sequel OR manga adaptation. It sure is a shame those things definitely don't exist.
Had a severe case of Bones Original Anime Syndrome. Nice animation and OST, a few likable characters, but an impenetrably dull plot explained almost entirely via dense paragraphs of exposition that barely makes any sense unless you run through it several times to absorb all the jargon. Lots of repetitive filler episodes where it feels like people were treading water for no reason. You could have shortened the anime by half, or even by a third and still gotten the point across just fine, taking 50+ episodes to do it was purely self-indulgent. You can't accuse Bones of being lazy or half assed with these original projects, but they feel like director/writer wank that puts the audience second.
>>134620840
I can fly away
>>134626223
Long shows like this really do bring something that you cant get out of a conventional 13 - 25 episode show. I get the same feeling out of FMA, which does it a little better in my opinion.
>>134624919
I was really glad that Anemone was fixed before they ended it. Just wish she got a little screen time.
>>134620840
Its very good for what it is
>great designs
>great animation
>good mix of character development/ plot
>perfect climax/ending episodes
>even the slow episodes are charming/funny
Im glad I never watched AO, dont want to be ruined on the series like with Pinker than Loli.
Dewey was right
>>134620840
AO was better.
Pacing was the only problem with the show. Otherwise, it was very well executed.
>>134620840
Bones has a remarkable ability to make original anime based around a unique concept that somehow manage to be very poor anime.
E7 was great. Proof that not all mecha has to be awful.
>>134626100
When Charles asked Renton call him "Dad".
When Renton left from them and said "Thank you".
When Eureka tried to look for Renton by herself.
When Charles and Ray died.
When Renton cried and said to Eureka "why Charles and Ray should died?".
I cried again and again.
>>134626792
>Pacing was the only problem with the show.
Nope just one of many
>>134627072
Goddammit anon. Don't do this to me now. It's too fresh in my mind for this shit.
>>134624919
Jesus fuck you're a fucking faggot.
>>134627336
All E7fags are like that unfortunately.
Like TTGL it only seems impressive if you've never watched a mecha anime un your life.
>>134627431
This. Gundam X was the same story told 10 times better.
>>134627431
It wasn't really about the mecha at all. It was just a plot device and to add a little action whale the adventured. It was more about how Renton grows as a person and Eureka learning to live with her sins and that she was coral scrub. Mecha at least wasn't the focus.
>>134627582
*while they
>>134621398
I like AO more than the original for a reason.
>>134627653
>a reason
How?
>>134621239
>>134624119
I never understood all the hate the kids got. Yeah, they're dicks, but people thought they were so irritating that they dropped the entire show because of it. I guess I just never got it.
>>134621680
Yeah, the Earth arc was fucking terrible.
>>134627653
That's fair.
>>134627582
Most mecha anime aren't exclusively about the mecha either.
Days is the best anime song for me.
I always felt like the very last episode was tacked on, like they decided at the last minute the ending was insufficiently saccharine.
>>134620840
DO NOT WATCH AO OR THE MOVIE. It will forever taint the series for you.
Barely remember anything except how the robots started bleeding like halfway through the show
>>134623068
>>134630794
It's OK anon. I haven't or ever will.
It's not bad but not very good either.
Essentially this
>>134626347
The plot was very muddled. I re-watched it recently and found it confusing.
The whole corlaians, trapars, and earth being the planet there on the whole time but they show humans leaving the planet(did they leave and come back at a later point?)
The shift in the plot is also very confusing; like one episode will show Renton getting completely mind-fucked/tripping out in the Nirvash and the next will be a filler-soccer episode. The pacing isn't too great.
Why Renton was such a insufferable little bitch? He had to constantly be coddled into accomplishing anything. The amount of angst between Eureka/Renton is just plain annoying. There's entire episodes where Eureka/Renton are just depressed and it's not good character development/it's just annoying.
The whole coralians are alive thing was easy to predict from the first time you see one of the robots/mechas get fucked up; the amount of blood that comes out is a lot more than a just a human.
I also wish Anemome/Dominic got more screen time; their relationship/character development was relatively interesting compared to Renton/Eureka.Also it made me appreciate yandere a lot more.
Also why mecha anime seems to revolve around "one mind" concept(NGE, geass 1st season, Human Instrumentality vs. The Ragnarok Connection)?
