In Bleach's case, the reason why it's not been cancelled is because the graphic novels are still selling well in Japan. People have been saying that Bleach is gonna get cancelled for years now and often cite the weekly rankings, but the fail to realize that Bleach consistent ranks among Oricon's Top 30 bestselling manga each year.
This year Bleach ranked in 21st place and sold over 2.8 million copies. Not extraordinary, but still a pretty good number. See the ANN link in >>134553846 for more details.
What this proves is that most of Bleach's readers in Japan prefer to follow the series through the graphic novels rather than on a weekly basis, which makes sense considering that Bleach is much more enjoyable in its graphic novel format.

You know, I really used to enjoy Toriko. After the whole Pair arc the series absolutely hit rock bottom for me. I mean, the series already declined in quality after the Cooking Festival arc, but now...now it's like Shimabakuro doesn't doesn't give a fuck anymore.
