I actually have no problem with Shinji. I was 14 the first time I saw Eva and found him very easy to identify with. Even now, at 24, I can still identify with him

used to mostly because of the other pussy MCs that I put him in with (that he may or may not have made popular). but I never really hated him.
I realized that even if you put an alpha MC in Eva the series would probably play out the same way oddly enough.
