So I just finished watching Panty & Stocking and I was wondering: Was this ending just a social commentary on the state of American cartoons; how a majority of them tend to finish their main story and then have something come up at the end as a cliffhanger into a possible season 2, but end up getting cancelled or something so those plans never get realized or did the makers put it there purposefully just to fuck with their fanbase, considering if you think about, none of what was shown in the last 5 minutes of the final episode makes any fucking sense whatsoever and even if they did make a second season, it would most likely be complete and total garbage since most of what made this show good was the synergy between Panty & Stocking and you lose that when Panty gets the Osiris treatment and the season, instead of being episodic shenanigans, now revolves around journeying to put Panty back together.
If it's the former, then bravo, what a message. If it's the latter, then fucking wow, you did a great job at pissing people off.

The show was great; ending was rage-inducing at the time, but I've since come to appreciate it. Whatever the case, it was incredibly Gainax, and it's uniqueness really allows it to stand out and stick in memory.
