Was it ever explained why Ichigo can't just meet up with his mom in Soul Society? Is it because she was killed by a hollow? Or are there just too many people there, and no census or anything for locating folks?

It could be revealed that Ginjou was the special Quincy like Haschwalth from 200 years ago,the one who lived during the Quincy massacre. I don't think Ginjou an Kukkaku will be on Soul Society's side. Kukkaku wasn't happy about sending Ichigo to the Royal Realm and we need to know, why Ginjou felt betrayed by Urahara and is suspicious of Isshin. Or why he knows, that Urahara, Isshin and Ichigo are connected at all. By the time Ginjou rebelled from Soul Society, Isshin and Urahara were hiding in the world of the living for several years. So something happened after Ginjou rebelled. He also met Tsukishima around the time Ichigo was born.
