I always found it odd how you had the spectators stand behind characters in Fukumoto's series and overreact to hidden hands. Gambling 101 teaches you that the more people who know what you have, the more faces there are to read, and the harder it is to conceal the the strength of your position. I always thought it was just a sort of artistic license to have them over-react, because otherwise you'd just have stone-faces and thought bubbles for volumes on end.
It's weird how this chapter reading the audience reaction became a focus. So, the goons were standing back there giving tells the entire time? This wasn't just something we were supposed to overlook?

To be fair, Washizu mahjong lost its charm long time ago, and its only appeal is to see Washizu finally dead for this to finally end.
I would say his match against Ichikawa was more likeable.

Got it, thank you. I'll check out Ten. Before this the only FKMT I've read before was Saikyou Densetsu Kurosawa. While I liked it for the ending, the secondhand suffering and embarrassment was getting too painful, so Akagi was a good reprieve from that.
