Survival Manga always feel incredibly trashy, but they're usually readable for the first dozen chapters where tons bit-characters are getting killed by weirdo monsters

Kyochuu Rettou is probably one of those.

Are there any good ones that don't feel like the author is totally phoning it in?
>>
>>134031823
This, and probably not

Cage of Eden falls under this aswell.
>>
>>134031017
That's mostly what I'm following too
I would add Ajin as somewhat related, and Gakkou Gurashi and Mahou Shoujo of the end to the currently worth following list

Would revenge type manga like Misumisou and Revenge Classroom be considered survival?
>>
>>134031017
>Mouryou no Yurikago (Cradle of monsters)
Is this even complete? I read it a little while back and kind of forgot about it.

>Eden no Ori (Cage of Eden)
Yeah, this one's good. Ending is a little rushed and chaotic but it's good.

Shit, all of them. I am Guro fag, but i cant name a single decent "death game/survival" manga. All are horribly written, generic and dumb.

Battle Royale deserves lest credit for establishing the genre, but wasnt that great either.

The only one i enjoyed was Mirai Nikki, because of how dumb it was and not pretending to be serious. Liar Game is decent if you count it as "survival" manga.
>>
>>134031823
From the list I posted, only Battle Royale gets the vibe done right. I agree with the trashy feeling, but the genre gives a good rush at certain parts of their stories, enough for me to continue to read..
Cage of Eden I dropped it hard though after the plot shifted on towers, spoiling the ending for myself didn't help either.
>>
>>134031961
I meant read it as in past tense, I still can't think of it as good, characters are the best of all the generic offerings though. I should really finish it, maybe the last arc justifies building the the island for medical research purposes or sumthn.
>>
How pornographic do some of these get with the monster shit? I see girls getting stabbed by giant wasps in some. Any with full on penetration?
>>
>>134032100
Talking about Cage right? Let me just tell you, last arc does not justyfy anything
>>
>>134031017
I would like to recommend darwin's game, although it's realistic to be selfish and paranoid in survival games, it's pretty frustrating to see people being overly distrustful fucks. The MC in the manga managed to convince people to work together and actually get shit done. Plus the mc now has 3 lolis in his harem and overall I think it's pretty good.
>>
>>134029938
I admire Battle Royale for its set-up and how it handled the gradual breakdown of people being forced to kill each other for survival, but it became increasingly frustrating when the villain became the bloody Terminator by the end of it and the sexual aspects could be pretty cringe-worthy. Strong start, but there was never any relief from the tragedy, so the impact faded.

Gantz is one of the few others I remember, because it attempted to find a balance between the death games and the group's troubled real lives. It was interesting for development, though everything gets pretty off-kilter by the final arc. The hunts themselves weren't very complicated, so when they actually tried to explain and resolve them in the end, it just started getting convoluted.
>>
I must just go full taboo here and find a place to download the Walking Dead comics, I wonder if their take pulls off better consistency with story..
>>
>>134032458
I followed Gantz during it's 3 year ending, Tae's adventures in Wonderland, not reviving and seeing action from dead warriors.
If they went sadistic MIB take on things I could of swallowed it more than what we got.
>>
>>134029938
Garbage.
>>
Anyone reading Kimi Shi ni Tamou Koto Nakare (Thou Shalt Not Die)? I'm interested in it because of Taro Yoko's involvement, but info on it seems to have utterly dried up. Has it been cancelled?

>>134032477
If you mean in contrast to the show, no comparison. People in the comic act stupid, but it's usually because of paranoia or what have you, rather than because the plot won't work otherwise.
>>
>>134032546
It's a shame, because I really like the start of Katastrophe, it was like another hunt, but on a massive Point of No Return scale.

I didn't even mind the idea of seeing the ship from Tae's perspective, her initial escape was genuinely tense. But I think the author just got burnt out, and started drawing out the search more and more before suddenly ending the entire conflict in a handful of chapters. Didn't even get a wacky where-are-they-now epilogue.
>>
>>134032019
Cage turned into a poorly-written feel-good shounen, which at least is more pleasant than whatever the fuck Green Worldz is right now.

I've never read Drifting Classroom, does it hold up?
>>
>>134032797
The writer had no long-term plan. Once you get towards the end, you realise the entire thing was made up as they went along. Plot elements would get introduced then swiftly dropped for no real reason and nothing really made much sense in retrospect. Hell, the reason the Tae hunt took so long was probably because they had no idea how to end things.

t r a s h

Holy shit this was one of the dumbest things I've ever read in my life.
>>
>>134031017
Shit taste. Some serious shit taste.

>>134029938
It's 'fun' until it gets outrageously boring. Few do it well.

Read 7 Seeds.

As someone who's read a lot of survival manga, I can certifiably say 7 Seeds is the best one by so far it's not funny. Don't be put off by the old-shoujo artstyle; the character writing is a level beyond everything else in the genre.
>>
>>134032913
the latest arc with hallucinogenic ants nest is stupid as fuck. Before that it was alright
>>
>>134032946
It's getting a bit weird plot wise, but the character writing is still god tier. Yumi Tamura just knows how to write great, complex characters.
>>
Just finished Cage of Eden, ending and twist was pretty crap. The thing that kept me reading was my love for prehistoric animals. And the ecchi. And vice student council president.
>>
>>134029938
I just want Btooom to end already. This NTR shit that's been happening is cheap and obnoxious
>>
>>134031017
Add Ousama Game and Ousama Game: Origins, my friend.
Not saying that they are good, but now you have something more to read.
>>
>>134032946
i sadly agree. everything up to this arc was imo really good.

(actually the insect-possessed guy at the beginning, was stupid too, but at least it lasted just a chapter or two. the hallucinogenic ants arc on the other hand, has been going for sooo long...).

an anime adaptation by a serious director, cutting-cleaning some of the stupid, would really be very cool. (it is also very successful afaik, so i wonder if it has ever been considered).
