You're a faggot.
My experience with Silverio Vendetta has really shown me that it doesn't matter what the fuck you read, as long as you switch up genres. Like seriously, the vocab is a bit harder than I'm used to but ultimately it's no big deal. If all you do is play moege or "easy" games that's pretty much fine as far as I can tell. You don't need to target "hard" games, really. Just be sure to mix it up with sci-fi and fantasy settings, or really any non-school setting, in order to not develop a SOL vocab bubble.
Also, it's still important to read real-life news articles, I think. Simply because it speeds up the process of picking up economic vocab considerably.
>>134021383
>なめあいっこ sixtynine
I'm a NEET and generally spend 99% of the year inside my house. The one night I like to go out is Thanksgiving night for Black Friday sales, which is pretty weird. Unfortunately, there wasn't a single deal I was interested in, so I am not going out. Kind of depressing.
>>134021535
What I was trying to say here is:
If you image all the vocab in Japanese as 20,000 words in a giant pool, every single work written in Japan equally accesses these 20,000 words. Every "easy" works has (potentially) the 20,000 words of Japanese. As long as you read enough of it you will really eventually accumulate all 20,000 words. It's not like "easy" stuff only access 10,000 and you need to read "hard" works to access the other 10,000. All 20,000 is in both "easy" stuff and "hard" stuff. It's just that "hard" stuff accesses more uncommon words at a much a higher percentage. If 厭う has a 1% chance of appearing in an easy work it has a 10% chance of appearing in a hard work. Either way, it's fine to just read easy stuff, in the end.
"This is obvious", some of you say. To which I reply, I know, I just wanted to type this anyway. This is mainly relevant become it comes to pass that you can read easy stuff 10x faster than hard stuff. At that point it'd be better to read hard stuff but if you wanna keep reading easy stuff it won't make a huge difference if you switch up genres and also supplement yourself with political and economic news.
>>134021759
Going out is pretty depressing, yes, which is why I haven't left the house in almost three years.

>>134021793
20,000 isn't really much anyway. People need to stop seeing it as some overwhelming stack.
>>134022125
It's a lot.
>>134022125
It's less once you look at it in magnitudes.
Make lines though and it'll be silly.
>>134021793
To begin with, an author using a wide range of vocabulary might make reading his writing somewhat tedious, but not necessarily harder to understand. Sure sometimes people here aver things like "Using a texthooker does not constitute "real" reading". By extension that means using a dictionary doesn't constitute "real" reading. However, I'm sure everyone here can remember authors even in their native language which, if you aspire to understand them properly, will necessitate grabbing a dictionary every other page, perhaps every other sentence even. It's a stupid sentiment. Of course some types of fiction just don't lend themselves to being read slowly, so you probably won't enjoy them unless you read at a decent pace.
>>134022179
I put "hard" in quotes to reflect that. Most people agree that Dies Irae is harder than Hanahira, and then poof, that descends into an internal division between "easy" and "hard" content.
Anyone watching Uta2? Is this mostly what Kansai-ben sounds like? Or are other parts of her speech that are just character-specific speech quirks?

>>134022736
Because logarithmic scales are extremely deceptive when we measure things based on their dimensions and then think of that logarithmically. You're doing a logarithm in a logarithm.
One row.
>>134022836
That's just your laziness talking and trying to find a way to make things seem more difficult than they actually are.
>>134022888
I care not for difficulty, just showing things how they are.
>>134022888
Not difficult. Just size. 20,000 is a lot of words. That's all there is to say on the matter.
>>134022909
That's not really much. All you've gotta do is learn 50 cards every hour, which is pretty easy. That's more than a minute for every new card, so you could just spend 50 minutes on new cards and the rest of the 10 minutes on reviews and other stuff, and then you just keep this pace all day, and then within the month, you'll have learned 36,000 words. That'll make you native level. There's really no excuse to not knowing Japanese. Anyone could do it in a month if you really wanted to.
>>134023014
It doesn't matter how long it takes to learn them. 20,000 is a lot.
>>134023086
Are you even reading his posts? If so, why do you keep responding?
>>134023456
He's pretty much shifting the goal posts, to use the phrase, so I reply firmly keeping them in place. I do read each post, think "that's not the point", and then re-state the claim he original denied (>>134022125). 20,000 words is a lot. Are they hard to learn? Do they take long to learn? I don't care, that's not the topic at hand. 20,000 is a lot. End of story.
>>134023570
It clearly isn't a lot if you can effortlessly fit it inside a small envelope.
>>134023668
20,000 is a lot of words.
>>134023699

>>134023668
Words aren't physical objects so assigning them a physical space is meaningless. No, printing them out in fine print doesn't count.
20,000 shitposts is clearly not a lot. Reach for 40,000 or go home.
NIGGERS CAN'T LEARN 20,000 WORDS SO WHY SHOULD I?
Oh my gosh goys, 20,000 is such huge number, It's like a 20 multiplied by a 2 and a 5 and a 5 and a 2 and a 2 and a 5. That's like BIG!
WOW HOLY MOLY NUMBERS CAN BE BIG. HOW DO YOU EVEN COunt THAT HIGH? I WANT TO LEARN THAT MANT VOCAB WORDS WHEN I GROW UP BIG AND STRONG
>>134023844
Oh my gosh goys, googol is such huge number, It's like a hundred tens, that's like BIG!
HEY PEOPEL, I JUST LEARNED A JAPANESE KANJI IT'S ㌫ I"VE NEVER SEEN A KANJI LIKE IT BEFORE?
I don't even know who to report anymore
>>134023809
But anon you're the nigger
>>134023898
>>134023898
Yeah, but you can't really touch a googol. That's like infinity divided by a little bit. But when you're talking about 20,000, then you're touching stuff. Like, that's a number could touch with my hands. And then, you've gotta think that you've gotta put all those things in your head. That's just, like a lot. I can't even imagine it even though it's a number that physically is true. Like, if you make a right triangle with a hypotenuse of googol, the other two sides just don't exist (and neither does the hypotenuse) but when you talk about 20,000, then it's real, even if it's just really massive. This kind of stuff is really mind blowing I've gotta admit.
>>134024012
>That's like infinity divided by a little bit
Not even close. You can see gogol. Just put a hundred zeroes on a piece of paper. Totally small, right?
>>134024012
When I hold a baseball I'm holding a googol of atoms in my hand.
>>134024052
No, you're putting a hundred infinity signs behind a 1. This is a massive super-real number, that I doubt any of us here could even ever really grasp because we just lack the mathematical facilities to understand that kind of stuff.
>>134024052
Yeah, that's only one followed by a hundred zeroes. How many zeroes? 100. 100 is a three-digit number. So if you can count to 3, you can count to a googol. Therefore you can learn a googol words easily if you can learn three words. You can learn three words in about 5 minutes. And 20,000 is a hell of a lot less than a googol therefore you can learn 20,000 words in less than 5 minutes. Anyone can learn Japanese in less than 5 minutes if they really wanted to.
>>134024174
This.
>>134024086
Well, I understand how quantum mechanics allows for stuff like that, but when simplify the world down to Newtonian mechanics, then atoms can't really exist in huge amounts like that, because the universe would collapse in on itself. Just thinnk about it. A googol is HUUUGE. We can't even grasp how to comprehend that number it's so huge, but when you talk about the world, that's when things would start to fall apart, because with that many atoms being held in your hand you would have to be like a god with infinite power, but we're not gods, not to mention, the baseball bat itself would spontaneously convulse into a black hole, because that many atoms would be stronger than light. So yeah, I understand how quantum mechanics can make super state atoms violate certain things, but when you really think about it anyways, those atoms can't be superstates since they can only be in one state, so quantum mechanics is just correcting for what we cannot measure, which why it seems like there can be a googol of atoms, but in reality there aren't that many
Anyways, we should stay on Japanese.
>>134024174
I don't think you really understand what a Gogol is. It's really advanced math when you get to the thick of it.

>>134024344
Obviously the universe would still exist, but all of matter would collapse into a black hole, unless of course antimatter would like cause an explosion pushing all of matter out, just for the process to repeat again, I guess that that could be feasible, but then we would have to operating at an incredibly fast rate where we interact with the word like sonic jet fires do, but faster, because the convolutions of matter into and out of the black hole form would be imperceptible to us, because obviously right now we don't know of such a thing and also cannot measure black holes since we cannot see them.

t: Japanese person from /int/

Oh okay then.
>>134030790
Please tell me how you define poor.
So I'm going through google translate for the Japanese word for "heroine" and I get hiroin. I was wondering which word you think I should use for a very brave but possibly villainous hero who is blind to see they're fight is possibly misguided.
ヒロイン heroine or 主人公 hero, main character, protagonist, heroine, head of household or 烈女 heroine and 勇婦 heroine, brave woman Thanks in advance! :)

Do you live in Singapore?
先輩 is generally written as せんぱい, right? Or is it not one of those words? Also, is there a list which I can reference to note which words are generally written in hiragana as opposed to kanji? I briefly searched for one but couldn't find anything.

Thanks to this thread I can read your country's shitty comic porn so clearly you are both wrong.
>>134030762
>controlled by one deified chink family
>not dictatorship
even north koreans would say kim jong un is not a dictator.
>>134030823
Do you define poor with a completely unrelated question?
>>134030831
jisho has that feature, no idea how accurate it is.

Singapoor detected.

So you're just a moronic shitposter. Got it.
This thread is now full of flaming faggots don't respect others' culture and retarded chinks.

So this is typical poster in /a/?

/djt/ is pretty great most of the time.
You come in all like ただいま
and everyone's just like おかえり
and we all get along.
But sometimes it's not like that and you just have to wonder why they'd be so angry on the internet.

They don't publish that. You only get an overall score for each section, but they don't tell you how many / which questions you got right or wrong.

Does anyone here use WaniKani for their kanji research? I'm wondering if I should buy a subscription for it since people at my languange school have been talking about it.
Is 行き more commonly read as ゆき or いき? I think it's いき, but I'm not sure.
