Have you watched Akame Ga Kill, Owari No Seraph, Fullmetal Alchemist, Dog Days, Gatchaman Crowds, Baka to Test, Anohana Juou Mujin no Fafnir and just practically every other action orientated show that's come out recently.
The power of friendship is really strong.
In fact, YuGiOh has it pretty weak. Only Joey and Yugi really have it. Tea and Tristan do nothing except be in the cheering corner.

And the dub rather exaggerates this. Jounouchi's entire reason for existance in the dub is helping Yugi because friendship. In the original he actually has his own goal of becoming a true duelist and his relationship with Yugi is more one of rivalry between comrades.
