Holy shit, I've never heard of something doing that badly before. That sucks. Why did it perform so poorly? Was it content, the horrible animation (I mean, the direction and story made up for it in terms of watchability, but there's no denying that the animation was generally shit), the time slot? Or was it just luck?
On a side note, are the LNs professionally translated or just fan translations? And are they even good, or are they a pain to sit through?

They cancelled the US (normal) BD releases. Limited edition is still being sold, but you know that it did really bad when the Japanese staff that did the show apologized for the show.
By the way, for once the translations are pretty good (done by desutranslations) so you don't have to worry.

Why would they apologize? The animation wasn't good, straight up, no denying it, but I feel like they made up for it with everything else. The lighting, direction, the soundtrack, even the pacing (which is surprising that it felt so good, considering how unresolved everything was at the end, and how seemingly little happened when you step back and look at it) -- all these aspects of the show were really solid and enjoyable. I feel like they made the best out of a convoluted story.
That said, I probably will try reading the LNs, but I doubt I'll enjoy it as much since it'll likely be lacking in all these other aspects.
