I visited an anime con last year, they showed "new" anime available in German, you could watch the first 1-2 episodes of some anime.
I already watched most of them so I could get an impression on how good the dub is.
It was horrible, it sounded like they hired some drug addicts from the street to speak the lines, and some essential lines were missing or changed so bad that if didn't already watch the show you wouldn't even understand what they are talking about.

Damn I miss the good old times. There used to be Anime marathons on MTV the whole night long. There used to be Golden Boy that I fucking loved to watch and then Escaflowne and then many others. On RTL2 they used to air Sailor Moon and that is the reason why I got into watching anime and landed here years upon years ago and am now reading VM and LN.

Ich will bei allem Respekt nicht behaupten, dass alle Serien, die auf RTLII, Tele5, Viva oder whatever liefen "gehaltsvoll" waren, aber die Menschen, die die Serien produziert haben, haben Herzblut reingesteckt, ob es deutsche Synchronsprecher waren oder die japanischen Animatoren. Aber was sehe ich heute? Ein Programm voller unterbelichteter Untermenschen, die nur aus eigenen Egogründen ins Fernseh wollen, auf Teufel komm raus, ohne Würde oder Ehre, sich selbst zum Affen machend...
Animes aber auch Zeichentrick im Allgemeinen (muss ja auch mal erwähnt werden) hatten doch wenigstens subtile Botschaften wie Freundschaft, Ehrlichkeit, Gerechtigkeit - in gewisser Art und Weise ein Gut gegen Böse.
Doch heute gucken sich die Kinder RTLII an und enden genau so, wie wir es draußen auf der Straße sehen - Azzlacks wohin man blickt...
Ich will nicht direkt sagen, dass ein wenig mehr Digimon zu mehr Zivilcourage geführt hätte oder Sailor Moon zu einer geringeren Schwangerschaftsrate unter 18 (Gott was vermisse ich unversaute Romanzen...) aber es hätte sich weiß Gott nicht negativ ausgewirkt!
