I also hate the flaunting of animation skills. Is like they are saying "Look at our skills, look how fluid and amazing we can animate". Fucking arrogance. I prefer the subtle touches in cartoons more, they use some great stills and yet achieve an more artistic edge, example Adventure Times and Gravity Fall. Anime is dead.

Neither this nor Daily lives got more than a small chuckle out of me. Maybe I just don't get Japanese humor but I thought Cromartie was pretty funny. Even SoL anime with some comedic elements elicit more laughs than these "full" comedy anime.
It's probably the most hit-and-miss show I've seen other than Space Dandy. Half the jokes are great, half the jokes are terrible. Anything involving Nano and Hakase had me wishing the episodes were chaptered by skit so I could just skip them.

It's not supposed to be outrageously funny, it's supposed to be one of the comfiest and most immersive SOLs ever made which is made all the better by its unique and artfully done art style. People who think everything has to be laugh-out-loud funny to be good have the mental age of a twelve year old. The humor is merely an excuse and framework for the surrealist, fantastical aesthetics to occur within. If you can't understand this, SOL obviously isn't the genre for you, and you would probably have more fun bashing it on /v/ than on a board that actually can appreciate it.

Because honestly, Nichijou is like 5% really funny, 15% moderately funny, and 80% dull non-jokes or worse, filler "footage" of city spaces or serving counters or whatever.
The way that Nichijou's hatebase holds it to a completely unique and inconsistent set of expectations and values when compared with other SOLs, almost all of which have some sort of structure ostensibly based around gags and comedy, makes me think they are inexplicably bitter people targeting a series arbitrarily, or that they are genuinely mentally impaired. Almost every modern SOL blends into the genre of comedy and has some sort of gag basis for the segmentation of its episodes, and yet the people who watch these other shows understand hat the comedy is not why they are watching it and do not judge its worth based on it. They judge it based on comfiness/cuteness/etc., with the jokes (which almost never make anyone laugh, probably even less often than the jokes in Nichijou do) being fully understood to be merely a vehicle through which the appealing qualities of the SOL genre can be portrayed. Which, again, makes me feel that those who repeatedly hate on Nichijou for the same memetic reasons must either be trolls or completely genre-retarded.

It means in this case an overdose of animation to make up for weak jokes, or simply in scenes that didn't really need that level.
I like it in Nichijou a lot and it's high quality, but for a more relevant example, think the final episode of Monster Musume. It feels like they just went and said "let's blow the rest of our budget in unnecessary animated sequences and explosions and shit for no reason instead of simply making the characters look and move better".

Okay, GochiUsa/Kiniro Mosaic/Hidamari Sketch/Gj-Bu!/K-On!/NNB are among my favorite animes/cartoons and I am generally sucker for SoL, but I just can't stand both Nichijou/Nichibros. It failed both as a SoL and as a comedy, though first 1-2 episodes of Nichibros were quite entertaining I have to admit.
