I honestly think Nodame Cantabile is grossly overrated on /a/. It wasn't bad, genuinely entertaining, but the author tended to derail from the main story for side characters and it takes a few rereads to be satisfied with the ending. Also the Europe half wasn't nearly as fun as Japan.

No. In many respects it was better than the adaptation. The OST is really the only thing which Kyoto Animation did which surpassed the manga.
To be honest I think most if not all of the people who didn't like the manga either didn't read it or read it scanlated.
