There really isn't much to like about Yugo.
He barely interacts with any other characters at all. He barely has any established character relations with any other characters, aside from the established backstory with Rin. But Rin isn't even and hasn't even been in the show itself so it doesn't amount to much. And he and Yuzu never interacted much either.
He did admittedly kill Yuto, but neither character were themselves in said duel. It was even short ontop of that.
The one scene Yugo expressed the most character was the short bout in where he rounded up and defeated the Obelisk grunts.

But Yuri actually does have more going for him. He may not have had that much screentime either, but people have spoken about Yuri a whole lot more. He has affected and is affecting more characters. And even had a little bit of on-screen character interaction with Dennis. Even if the rest just amounts to mugshots of him kidnapping Ruris or backdrops images from people talking about him.
But that's the thing. Yuri plays an antagonistic role. And his role within even Academia itself is also elaborated upon. And characters in general do talk about him.
Yugo is sadly almost so irrelevant that you can forget about him. No one in the show talks about him. And if he wouldn't be on the screen it would almost be as if he wasn't in the show at all.

He's really underused. One of my pet peeves with the current arc is that they're not doing anything with the Yuus. Even Yuuya isn't exempt from it since he's had to constantly reset regarding his ENTAME and EGAO ideals, and the writers dragging out his separation from Yuzu has made MUH YUZU incredibly stale, especially because she's fine most of the time.
Yuuto has been 'dead' for ages and there's still no proper explanation for why Yuuya ate him and what it has to do with the overarching plot.
For all anyone knows Yuuri's been stuck in a wall in Standard since episode 47. The writers can't do much with him at the moment because that would mean Academia has to get off their asses and do something but this shitty tournament has to keep going, so I'm holding out for him to do something shortly before the invasion.
The writers not doing anything with Yuugo is probably the most offensive at the moment considering that this is the Synchro dimension and he's Synchro Yuuya. He has nothing to do with the current plot and mostly just comes off as filler. Episode 84 might give him some more backstory or involve him with the plot but I'm not getting my hopes up.

83 had enough FUCKING HAPPENING quotient for me to keep tuning in. I just hope 84 continues the trend, but it's probably going to be mostly Yugo vs. Selena.
