Other than the image quality and minor choices (ou vs ō), CR and Redhawk were pretty comparable (though I still keep reading RH Nanatsu). And I'd take CR over any niggastream/IS/kissu-like scans. A quick check of spoilers says that what Touta said in Japanese was 美人だったよなー. So a more direct translation would be along the lines of "she was beautiful". The translators probably went with "smoking hot" as "beautiful" doesn't fit well with Touta's casual attitude there (or in general).
On a related note, have any of you people actually looked at the translation credits on the Crunchyroll page for UQ Holder? The listed translators are Alethea and Athena Nibley, the same pair that translated the later Negima volumes, and did the retranslation of the earlier volumes for the omnibus release.
It's like that for at least a few other series as well. "Crunchyroll's" translators for UQ Holder aren't their at all. They're Kodansha USA's translators. The translation you see on Crunchyroll is essentially the same as the translation you'd get if you purchased the official US release. The differences would mainly be the occasional error correction, or translation improved by information from later chapters.

I think its hard to really see Kuro's decision on it one way or the other. In that scene where Kuro at least figuratively gives up the traditional expectations of womanhood there is a good argument to be made that they intend to give it up physically as well. However, Kuro DOES say "Male or female makes no difference" in the end. We really don't know if there's been a true physique change or either or just willpower bs. The guy says he sees a boy, but that could be more of an interpretation based on Kuro's changed attire and aggressive actions.

You should read Negima, it starts as pretty mediocre harem manga,
but in the last half it becomes a pretty entertaining battle shounen, and it will give you the information you need to fully appreciate UQ.
It's pretty light hearted, and there's pretty much 0 tension, save a few sporadic cases.
I think it's a good read, and if you don't expect much, you could end up reading it with a smile.
Shame for the ending, which sucked, I hope UQ will give something like a flashback on what happened, but who knows.
