Bleach always had bad pacing but a good payout in the long run.

Orihime was passive in early Bleach, when Ichigo was fighting against Byakuya she felt she couldn't do a thing, then after that Matsumoto cheered her up when she wanted to be strong like Rukia in order to be able to cheer up Ichigo, in the arrancar arc she changes but goes back since Aizen and Ulquiorra mindfuck her, she still has a subtle change and instead tells Ichigo

In the fullbringer arc, which shows us more development in all characters she directly said that she WILL heal him no matter what happens, this time she won't think of herself as useless nor will she ask Ichigo not to get injured.
If he gets injured she WILL restore him back, there's no hesitation anymore.

I remember Bleach's ranking were tanking thanks to fillerbringer arc. Fillerbringer was killing both the manga and the anime at the time. Japan didn't like that shit and it showed with it's sales. Editor-kun saved that piece of shit.
