So basically:Since the end of the previous light novel, the club has been disbanded. Timeskip of a month. Kodaka and Kobato run into Yozora in town, and while Kobato can't forgive the latter for what she, Sena, and Rika did, Kodaka is thinking that she's broken on the inside, despite putting up a tough facade towards the siblings. After the two return home, Kodaka decides to call Rika. He doesn't know if he wants to bring the club back together or what, but he wants the matter to settle. They have a discussion about the club, and Rika tears Kodaka a new one about how he played dumb with the girl's confessions. By the end of it, she's in tears but now feeling better towards him since she got it all out, and teases him about how much Yozora feels for him. After the call ends, a series of events goes on where Kodaka goes around to find the club members one by one and try to make peace with them. When he gets to Sena, he considers, but finally has to outright reject her, saying that someone else needs him more. Pegasus throws Kodaka out of the house, but Sena, though a bit teary eyed, takes it well, and claims she won't give up despite that. Yozora is the final club member Kodaka meets, and a touching scene takes place on the rooftop of the school, where they recall and laugh about the various things the club has done. Yozora goes hard on herself and breaks down, citing all the horrible things she's done over the course of the series, and ends it with "Even if you choose Sena, Kodaka, I'll stay your friend always." As she turns to leave, Kodaka grabs her and confesses to her. Touching scenes etc etc, the twi work to bring the now appeased club members back together, to eat hotpot together for New Years. Series ends on a comedic/yuri note with Yozora suggesting Sena coming into their relationship, and the other club members try to jump on this.
The author did the worst ending no one asked for.

Yukimura has given up on Kodaka because he did not show any real interest in her. Kodaka lost all his relationships outside the club (Rika rejected him, Yukimura gave up on him, Kodaka rejected Yozora) and they all were going back to the old status quo. The story ends and Kodaka was happy that he could spend a happy time in the school and in the club. He didn't show any regrets about the relationships he lost. He really was only interested in having fun in the club and not in making real friends.
Sena has not given up on him and her promise that she waits for him is still valid. Kodaka and Sena will go to the same college after graduation. The story ends with this status and what happens between them in the near future remains unknown.
The author mentioned in the afterword that this is the ending he was always aiming for. Most people are unhappy about the ending (Amazon reviews).

Man, this shit is what made me fall in love with anime. It what made me watch more than just mecha. Yeah, haremshit, but god damn it's good haremshit. The characters were lively, and all of their interactions with each other were fucking top notch. I bought all the manga, read through it, and have on pre-order what I can. I don't even buy statueshit but I've got 6 Yozoras around my desk, plus the Nendoroid and some keychains. I was so god damn emotionally invested into this bullshit because, as ridiculous as it was, it felt real. It made me wish I went to high school, at least to know what it was like. And reading the translations of the last few light novels were soul crushing. I get that it was always about them learning what true friendships were, but I can't help but feel everyone was ridiculously out of character for the previous 8 light novels. I've heard the author wanted to have Kodaka get with one of the girls and have the remainder of the series be about everyone dealing with and coming to terms with him picking someone else while still being friends, but then the author came under a lot of pressure to keep the harem antics going. The more I kept reading, the more I realized how undeveloped Sena and Kodaka's relationship was. Like how he stayed in the sidelines and watched as Yozora was the one who kept challenging and reaching out to Sena such as that basketball game. Now Sena (and family) reached out to Yozora. Their friendship was one of the few things that didn't suck near the end (I still enjoyed the comedy).
