No, it takes less time, because you draw it (or outsource the drawing to Poland), rig it (or outsource the rigging to Poland), mocap the dance scene, and hit render.
From this point on, *anything you don't like can be easily tweaked, and the scene re-rendered*, whereas if you'd have done it in 2d you'd have had to have thrown everything in the bin and started again.
The savings are even greater for an actual idol show: you draw and rig the models *once*, and you can use them over and over again, in episode after episode. You draw, rig and mocap a couple of audience members, and you can use permutations of heads, bodies, outfits and movements to fill in an entire audience of hundreds of people.
