Also, the biggest issue with the last part, with the broadcast of the final clause of the UC charter, is that there's no validity to a single goddamn word Audrey is saying. The EF could say it was a prank, and that the first person to develop the newtype theory went on the develop what almost immediately turned into Zeon, some 75 years after the change to the UC calender. Another gripe is the Unicorn being really tech inconsistent.

The problem with IBO is that it has no world building. Just a a bunch of lazy exposition about the blocks and the wars that gets repeated every few episodes but overall the show is lacking in a real sense of purpose and build up. Gallarhorn doesn't even feel as threatening as it should feel. The only thing the show even bothered to properly develop was "Mars' kids have it rough" but otherwise it's all pretty barebones. Nagai and Okada weren't the best show for a franchise that lives off autistic world building.

I don't have strong enough feelings for it to say I hate it.
It is just that I feel it does so little from what we've been shown. there is such an interesting setting, but the failure of Director Nagai to capitalise on this is amazing. If this were a 4 cour show, I probably would not be so hard on it, but since it is a 2 cours show and we are 1/3 in, we barely know anything about our characters and they are ever further away from reaching their goals. We barely have any inclination of the larger plot points, we're still stuck on Tekkadan trying to get Kudelia to Earth.
Our plucky protagonist Mika pilots the Gundam, does whatever Orga says and munches on food. The one time he showed a shred of personality was when he got angry at that one guy on the farm.
There's so little characterisation for anyone aside from Orga. Since he's the leader of the team I guess he has the most showtime, but still it is embarrassing we don't have anything else for the rest of the Tekkadan folks. There is little reason to care for plight of the Martian people, we've barely seen them, we've barely seen how they live, we've barely seen their hardships. Oh I guess that one episode with the farm sorta counts? But we're constantly told "oh the poor Martian people need independence" but being told that over and over again does not make good storytelling.
We're supposed to root for Kudelia, but she's been a wallowing mess ever since she's shown up. she constantly feels bad about herself and her character just never seems to improve.
There's not even anything else to write about the rest of the female cast as they are so bland and cliche. The childhood friend is forever stuck doing cooking, cleaning and looking after kids. The other female characters that recently showed up are just part of Mafia-guy's Harem and produce babies for him. Thanks Nagai.

He then piloted the Victory Gundam, which was in no way overpowered and was constantly being WRECKED and only managed to keep functioning because the whole point of the Victory Gundam line was mass production and easily replaceable parts.
He survives multiple battlefields, adapts to space combat, fires a fleet destroying super weapon, and manages to escape the enemy NAKED after being captured to finally get his upgrade with little fanfare besides suriving exposure to SPACE WHILE NAKED thanks to his Haro.
