Fortunately, the squids on Earth have become so dumb, they don't want to cause shit. They just do their dumb squid business, and as long as you don't trigger them, they also leave you alone, migrating from some place to another, dying to disease and old age, having squid sex and making squid babies, and shedding off nanomaterial that is used by the surface worlders to generate power. They're just somewhat more dangerous animals, but that's kinda it. As long as there aren't too many of them around or you're close to one of their nests, they'll leave you in peace.
