The thing is, the kids fought most of their battles in the digital world sans the finale arc and movie. They didn't need to worry about collateral damage and harming humans by accident.
This time around, it looks like all of the battles are going on in the real world and when you've got a team of fucking dinosaurs shooting lasers and fire balls Taichi is correct in being afraid about his consequences.
Taichi is being asked to prove his worth as the crest of courage by gaining the courage and resolve to fight even knowing the risks. Yamato is a shithead friend, though so he'll go through his friendship shit again.
The problem with this shit is I thought all of the kids already went through this stage trying to activate their crests for Mega evolutions the first time around during S1. Fuck this reset shit.

I didn't want them to Jogress at all. The episode where they did it was shit, the evolution was underwhelming, and completely asspulled how it was able to stand BlackWarGreymon when nobody else, including MagnaAngemon, couldn't.
