It's the similarity of the settings. Card games have roughly the same importance and scale in both worlds, yet Bashin can't manage to function like a normal human being even by the end of the show, unlike Aichi who grows as a person over 3 seasons. Bashin constantly mistreats people he cares about, forgets about promises, and ignores his non card game related duties and that never really changes, he just gets better at BS. Throughout the whole thing it just feels like the staff is trying to tell you that card games make you a worse person, case in point being Striker getting roped into Bashin's autism and Bashin's dad being an absolutely terrible father. The entire thing was just so grating, having to watch what mama speedstar's life was like and seeing how Bashin and Striker shirked everything non card game related. Sure the ending was exciting in the moment, but afterwards I just felt like sensei should have fucked Bashin's mom and given him more guidance in life considering his dad fucking ditched them the moment he came back.
