Whichever studio did the 2nd season fucked it up completely. The worst parts of the novels were those when 8man monologues and waxes poetic about his shitty views on society which don't even make sense (maybe it's the translation but whatever) and the studio made sure to animate as much of that as possible and not any of the comedy of fun stuff.
This is probably why 10.5 is my favourite
