I can't pretend to know anything about art, but would you consider the monster hunter armor drawing (forgot the waifu) a sketch? Because I feel like that was a perfectly acceptable quality, even if the lines were a little unclean they were definitely clean enough that it didn't hurt the drawing as a whole.
If that drawing is what a sketch is to you, I think it's very reasonable that you would do deliveries of that quality instead of spending a few more hours perfecting it.

Well yeah, the professional artist who probably designed the character could obviously do a much better job of drawing her than someone who's only looking at a reference and possible knowledge of the show.
