It was a well constructed adventure with a battle system in it, I don't see where the deconstruction comes from.
The writing was pretty solid unless you can specifically pick out major instances in which it fucked up.
I've only read the manga by the way.

The writing was great though. The bad thing about it was that it took big risks for the sake of good writing-a huge cast of new characters who get lots of development, ignoring half the existing cast, a big change in tone and arc length, unconventional pacing and execution for the palace invasion to build tension, an mc who acts like the bad guy in comparison to the actual 'villain', a massive anticlimax in the final battle for the sake of the arcs themes, etc. It was all good, interesting stuff but understandable if some people didn't like it regardless of how well written it was.
