So tell me /a/, why does the Rule of Awesome seems to apply especially in Anime? Why are the Anime with the most ridiciously scenarios the better ones? The more fucked-up the premise of an series, the better they get.
do the writers think the audience wants this? why does every anime need to have at least a supernatural twist?

I won´t say that there are no good animes in a realistic setting, but they are rare
proofe me wrong /a/

It's annoying as hell when I'm expecting a realistic show.
Like Gangsta for example, I was hoping for a good mafia type series or something like that.
Not power levels and weird looking bad guys.
>>
>>133760326
because it's escapism
>>
>>133760326
>do the writers think the audience wants this?
Probably. They're probably right, too.

>I won´t say that there are no good animes in a realistic setting, but they are rare

Well the convenient thing about animation is that you can make outlandish scenarios and worlds.
May as well have it be live action if you're going the realism route.

Because making a good story within realistic setting is more difficult, since you need to consider more things. In fight scenes you need to apply basic physical laws and physiology , your characters must be more diverse and believable, if it's a scifi setting you need to have technological knowledge etc. If you don't care about realism you can just do whatever the fuck you want as long as it's cool/funny or whatever. Otherwise it needs to be both.

it`s an established trope found in every media from literature to movies. also known as "rule of cool"
basically it means, that the viewer is willing to accept even the most liberal handling of reality, if the result is wicked sweet

>>133760326
why follow FICTION if you want realism? I'll never understand you guys. The whole point of fiction is that you can do stuff you wouldn't normally do in the real world. Wanna punch the moon so hard it creates another galaxy? Go right ahead!
>>
>>133762084
I'm aware, but it's the usual TVTropes faggotry of assigning stupid names to concepts, and then expecting people to understand what they are instead of just explaining the concept.

>Why are the Anime with the most ridiciously scenarios the better ones?
Because they are usually the most fun. For example, the instant I read the premise for Twintails I knew it was going to be amazing. Other shows that just suddenly go off the rails are awesome as well, fun things are fun Anon.

yeah, but why not trying to recreate reality for the sake of it? as far as i recall, there wasn`t ever an attempt to do something like this.
why not trying to make believable characters and surroundings for a change and not always going the easy way and say "dont think about it, its fiction" ?
>>
>>133762367
The wording "rule of cool" has been around much, much longer than TVTropes, son.
>>
>>133762318
If you want fiction to be belivable it must make sense. If you want to be "realistic" you must spent more time makeing your world. If you are going over the top no one is gonna ask about details.

Make sense according to its own rules, not to our world. One Punch Man is full of nonsensical situations but it's internally consistent, so it works.

As you said, fiction can let you experience what you can't reach in real life.
Therefore some may want to try a more realistic approach so people can self-insert easier. And being realistic doesn't mean you have to go full tragedy. The story can still be satisfying. Realistic or not, it's just about the details.

I'm not saying realism is better for fiction but it's there for a reason. People just have different needs. I personally don't think the problem of anime is about lacking realism, but rather consistency in most cases.

>why does every anime need to have at least a supernatural twist?
But most of my animes are about girls in completely non-supernatural clubs.
>>
>a bunch of girls fight generic mahou shoujo monsters by using song-powered ancient technology

And lo and behold, it has one of the best season climaxes I've ever seen, among other great stuff.

It's not Deviantart. The artist just has a second account there but uses pixiv like every normal artist.

That many cute girls with no uglies to be seen has to be supernatural.

>trying to recreate reality for the sake of it
Animation is the worst medium to do it. If you want to make something realistic you should make a non animated film.
