To start, honestly I've always have a thing for 'Mysterious Cool Girls.' and she delivered such in the first episode.
Then the more I got to know about her, the more interesting and infatuated I became.
Despite being a workaholic she does have her cute caring side, and there is a lot of development of her character throughout the first arc.
The transition of being a lonely, cold, serious warrior to eventually softening and opening herself up and becoming more human with all conflicts that came about it really had an impact on me.
Her dedication, motivation and selflessness really appealed to me.
I can see why people wouldn't like her however, terms like "Bossy." and "Bitchy." can be attributed to her early personality, coupled with forcing Ichigo into a dangerous life risking job of slaying monsters could easily put a lot of people off.
