I just finished reading Sket Dance. I got this feeling you get when you finish a truly special manga that touched your heart. I had to hold back the tears during the final chapters.
People often say this is a poor man's Gintama, but it is actually not inferior in any way. Shinohara and Sorachi are both geniuses at making their readers cry of laughter and sadness, almost no other mangaka can do what they do.
A lot of people raged at the ending, but I thought it was very appropriate. What did you expect, really? This is the kind of person Bossun is. And what truly matters is that Switch moved on with his life and is now dating Momoka. Switch's story was what elevated this manga to heights it could have never reached otherwise.
I would have loved to see the manga go on longer, but I suppose that's better than dragging it out for years. I'm eagerly looking forward to Shinohara's next work. Hopefully, he'll pick a less restrictive setting next time. I thought the high school setting really held back the series at times.
tl;dr: fucking read Sket dance, it's great.
Gonna dump my favorite chapter now to lift up my spirit.

i need to finish this.
Have a pity bump.
SD wasn't bad by any means but it definitely got weaker in humor in the home stretch and you can tell the author was running out of ideas. The Gesu Club was boring and didn't need multiple appearances. Also the club captains leaving their clubs was overly melodramatic. 8/10 series, would marathon again.
>>133569975
I liked the gesu club actually. Or rather, I just liked Cherry. I wish Pocket Dan had gotten more screentime than him though, they were really underused. Actually, I just wanted more Silk.
I read enough to understand this NTR doujin
I'm just to jaded nowadays to read shounen that's set in highschool.
It feels like it limits the total amount of content overall and I can't really relate since I'm out of highschool so that aspect does nothing. Does anyone else have that problem?
>>133569585
Had one of the best arcs in manga and anime, Switch Off, which would be an Oscar Bait if turned into a Hollywood movie. Other than this it was okay but not a masterpiece and had an inconclusive ending for anyone not Switch.
>>133570007
>why is it in German!? Isn't this game from China?
>And that's how it goes
Gave me a giggle
>>133570072
Was Silk the girl or the notBossun? It's been a while and I forgot the Pocket Dan's names.
>>133570248
The girl. She was a magician, she could have been used for a lot of shenanigans. Plus, she was cute as fuck.
>And what truly matters is that Switch moved on with his life and is now dating Momoka.
>otaku going out with a yanke girl
Well, okay, fine, I'll give it another shot dammit.
Anyone mind spoiling what other romantic development happens in this series? And particularly also what doesn't happens when it feels like it should so I don't get my hopes up.
Yeah, I know, it's not a romance manga, but this kind of shit ends up bothering me more than it should.
I wish this chapter has been animated.

Now I remember, could have used her in the anime even for a cameo.
>>133570508
Agata's sister (Saaya?) confesses to Bossun and he indirectly turns her down but she feels better for it, etc. In the final chapter it looked like Himeko and Bossun were going to have a moment but Bossun being the average MC that he is ends up leaving her hanging. That's pretty much it.
>>133570720
>everyone but MCs romantic plots wrapped up
why
OP, dump Chapter 106 with the Deka Club if you're still here and have the time
>>133570197
/thread.
But it feels good while reading it. Pretty well written side characters.
>>133570114
I have that same problem and I loved Sket Dance. Made me wish my high school years could have been like that.
>>133570508
Onee-san and Chuu get married.
Saaya confesses to Bossun and then later gives up on him.
Himeko confesses to Bossun right as he's about to leave Japan and he misunderstands it as her saying she loves him as a friend.
That's about it. Sket Dance was very light on the romance.
>>133570720
>In the final chapter it looked like Himeko and Bossun were going to have a moment but Bossun being the average MC that he is ends up leaving her hanging. That's pretty much it.
Good. This is one of those things where they should keep the nakama as nakama, not shove romance garbage between each other (except for comedic effect as appropriate). It really pissed me off when they started playing with the romance during the anime.
>>133570924
I can do that. The english translation isn't very funny though.
I wonder when he starts new manga, his only known recent work is character design for kids' show Brave something
>>133571158
Yeah the translations isn't as funny but the twist is worth it
I'm just so sad the anime ended so early. The cast was god tier.
I always thought it was lame how everyone's got a super tragic backstory in this series.
Who was best girl?
>>133572113Yabas
>>133572113
Himeko, Captain
>>133572113
Captain.
>>133569585
I rememer marathoning this when it was still at ch. 70 and laughing my ass off. Definetely one of the best Jump manga.
>>133571564
This.
I just want another series that covers the rest of the manga
>>133572852
At this point I'd take a movie or an OVA about the Switch Off arc, and maybe include the last arc too for closures sake.
>>133569585
OP, yes. Just yes.
Gintama is in my top five manga and I've been meaning to give Sket Dance a try, but I'll shed away my procrastination and start it today in honour of you OP.
>>133572951
Switch-centric episodes were the best.
>>133573135
Come back later and tell us how it was, anon!
>>133573172
Switch was the real MC. Not that I dislike Bossun or Himeko, the whole main cast was fantastic.
>>133573135
Keep in mind that just like Gintama, it starts off a little slow with character introductions and all that jazz, so keep reading for the good stuff.
Tsubaki was my favorite, his and Bossun's interactions were always gold too.
>>133569585
Agreed. Really liked Sket Dance. Was sad when it ended. One of those rare manga where none of the cast is annoying, and everyone is extremely likable.
>>133573418
Best theme

I bet the reason the anime ended so early was because they blew all their budget on The Pillows.
>>133573646
Agreed
>>133569585
I fucking loved it.
I remember as the scans of the final arcs were uploaded bit by bit i wanted it to never end feeling like crying.
The ending was just bittersweet but graduation endings cant take a better flavour.
Glad you liked it OP
>>133570072
>I just wanted more Silk.
Word
I like Sket Dance a lot. It's got heart.
OK, downloading the manga.
Thanks for the recommendation anon kun.
This thread went better than expected. Thanks everyone.
How is the anime? Worth a watch?
>>133575944
Definitely
>>133573418
Tsubaki best boy
