You know, something I've noticed. The redheads in DxD and "My Step-Sisters are actually demons who want to fuck me" have pretty generic attacks. Like, they just fire off demonic magics. That's surprisingly boring, compared to the bizarre superpowers the protagonists have.
After a while, you kind of notice trends in the stories. I would argue that Rakudai is slightly less generic, in that Ikki seems to be more of a 'perfect boyfriend' than a male power fantasy. Y'know, more of a female fantasy.
I still think that nearly every MC has incredibly generic powers, however. I'm also wondering how you could write an LN while avoiding the most common cliches.

SMT seems more harem ecchi oriented, and Rakudai is more school romance, relatively well done I would add; Stella is the first interesting tsundere I've seen in a while and I've watched a shitload of these magical battle harem school things; the dere is actually there and rather than just iaaaaaaaaa! slap! there's actually some character and relationship development. No I don't know how fucking far it's going to go, maybe it won't go any further than it has, but at about half way through the season, its already gone considerably farther in terms of developing the primary romance than most other shows similar to it which I've seen recently.
