Why is it the most nuanced and well executed animes so often fall short of their potential?
played it to safe?

O-oh wow a reply.
That's certainly one possibility. Overreliance on super-typical tropes is an easy way to crap up a good thing. But that's not the only reason.

I don't understand.

Japanese have shit taste?
Escaflowne was a masterpiece, I don't know what you're talking about.

No nightgown animated.
Escaflowne!
I guess I should rewatch it, I hardly remember the story anymore. Just a question: how was the ending?

meh
>>133557544
>how was the ending?
10/10
Budget constraints as often as not.
>>133552237
Money is cheaper than quality.

>they made sketches like this before production
>not a single pantyshot in anime

Isaac Newton was final boss, shit was glorious.
>>133559170
The only glorious thing I remember was that Van's bro got two catgirl waifus after he died.
Escaflowne was good, but it definitely felt rushed. Newton had hardly any scenes other than looking in his telescope and doing a villain laugh while saying "my plans are coming together perfectly." Then when his plan went terribly wrong he just fucked off without doing or saying much. It lacked impact. Folken's abandonment of Van and subsequent betrayal of Newton could have used some more background. And Atlantis felt like it was supposed to be a big thing, but the protagonists went there for like 10 minutes and then left and not much was said about it.

Almost, there was something lacking I just can't quite put my nose on it.
>>133559472
it was supposed to be longer but it was haxed
>animes
>>133559223
That alone made the final episode 10/10

It was supposed to be 3 cours long but they only got the budget for 2 before production started.
The only thing that got axed are your brain cells.
