Personally, I found it incredibly fucking dull how it never even tried to explore the fantasy world. It was just nonstop fawning over how cool the military guys were. The people from the other world had their minds blown by the simplest things, like bathhouses which were around long before the societies they're clearly based off of. Even when they came back to Earth nobody ever did any magic or anything because no one seemed to care. The world found it more amazing that the military had dealt with magical beings than the fact that magical beings existed. And the lazy otaku secretly being the top special forces agent in the country and gets all the bitches wet despite never doing much of anything besides looking pathetic was just lame every time. Granted, I've only seen the anime.
