Unfortunately, Glemy wasn't the protagonist of ZZ, so we couldn't directly experience his rise to power from a mook pilot to the most powerful man in Neo-Zeon.
Hopefully one day we'll get a high budget OVA series with him as the MC where he'll be depicted as Gundam's Reinhard equivalent. And if we're lucky, they'll retcon the ending so we get a happy end with him winning, like how ANT gave us a happy ending to Zeta.

Watch everything up to and including Turn A in production order. After that, you can pick and choose what AUs you want to watch, but it's preferable to keep watching in production order if you plan on watching the entire franchise. Watch Build Fighters last since they reference previous shows with characters and models and you'll miss the references otherwise.
Don't settle for recap movies, that's for faggots. If you're not going to enjoy the franchise properly, why are you even getting into it? Might as well just read a synopsis on a wiki and pretend you watched them. Only recap movies you should watch are Zeta ones, but not as a replacement to the TV series, but because the movies diverge from the TV series and have a different ending, watch both. Maybe save Zeta movies for last and once you've seen everything else, watch 0079 movies to refresh yourself on 0079 and then watch Zeta movies.

Watching in production order is how I did it up until Gundam X. The AUs are lower in quality than the UC stuff. G was okay, Wing was fucking shit and then X was boring as hell. I was stuck with the entire franchise because I couldn't get through X. Finally I decided to skip it and watch Turn A and I'm glad I did. So I'd say watch in production order but don't force it if you don't want to.
