What made Momo stand out to me is that she was so gung ho for the harem plan but occasionally battled with the idea that deep down she actually wanted Rito to herself, an emotional conflict that never shows up in another harem series. As far as I know that isn't a "deretype" and that internal conflict of having to choose between sacrificing everyone's happiness for her own or throwing away her true goal in order to make all her friends happy is what makes her a good character. Hopefully we get more of that.

Mixed deres like Yami isn't that rare or unique. She's a kuutsundere who went through a fleeting period of yandere out of circumstances. Emotional conflict that stirs character development isn't that uncommon in TLR. Yui, Nana, and Mea has them too, not just Yami and Momo. But it's not like emotional conflict is needed to make a girl stand out more or something. Nemesis is a simple character, but she's likes to have fun and mess around, and can be serious when the situation warrants it, much like any girl in TLR really when they need to be for serious plot time.

The issue I have with TLR is that too much time is spent on ecchi and dat plot instead of actual plot and character development. Because of the monthly release and the occasional side story TLR is moving at a snail's pace. There have been some good moments of character development, probably one of the better ones is Run's chapter when Run and Ren separate and talks about how she doesn't want to fall behind in the love game and makes Rito consider the harem plan. In short she became less of a spoiled brat and has vulnerabilities and self-doubt about being able to compete with Lala.
Shit, even Rito has character development. Compare him now to what he was in the first chapter of TLR (not Darkness) and you can see differences. For example, Rito suspects Momo going forward with the harem plan because she wants him to love her (Chapter 17 pg. 40-41). Which proves he's not as dense as most Harem Main Characters are. He's actually quite a productive person and not a waste of genes.

Here's the deal, you can have plot progression and character development with the ecchi. It takes a real wombo-combo manga writer and artist to master such a feat. As I've said before there's no balance between the ecchi and the character development/plot. What I've noticed they do a chain of ecchi chapters, and then do a chain of plot chapters. Even then some plot chapters don't really have much development. There's no equilibrium and that's holding the series back from being a decent/good manga to being an amazing manga.
