One thing I don't care for with these fairly well done animated shows who show explosions like that are they get really lazy with the actual explosion. I've seen it a few too many times where it's just a bunch of various sized blocks falling down from the crash. Obviously because it's easier to animate blocks in perspective rather than all types of irregular shapes, but still. Is it too much to ask for?

Block-shaped debris are pretty popular since it's easier to animate like you said, some animators have stylized them enough to be a signature flourish of their like Yutaka Nakamura. Still, it's debris that aren't straight-up cubes are around. You just gotta know where to look.

I don't think bizarre is a word one would normally associate with Hashimoto and Kakita's styles. Those two along with Hirofumi Masuda and Masakatsu Sasaki are deemed to be the top effects animators. Their styles are detailed and lean towards realism if you ask me.

I can agree on genga, but people use the word sakuga because it's a distinct characteristic of Japanese limited animation.
Like, a Disney Pixar film has good animation throughout, but that isn't sakuga.
The usage of the word also really isn't comparable to "good animation". You would say a sentence like

Seiyu also makes sense just as much as "anime" does. It's a clear distinction for a Japanese voice actor.
