Dude, you're exaggerating. The show was pretty enjoyable. The Hikari x Amane ship had to occur at the very unfortunate cost of sinking Yaya, but it was fine on its own, as Amane herself is a pretty good person and deserves a good partner and leaves nothing to complain aboutother than her looks and clothes that make her look like a man.
The only problem was that the NaTaShi triangle followed suit and had Nagisa also go after the "manly" girl. That did not only kill the diversity in the series, but Shizuma herself became a rather underwhelming character in the last arc, and I could not get over breaking Tamao's heart and leaving her behind.
tl;dr It got shit in the last arc, but was good before that.

Big bad is the real Chikane while the one with amnesia is that goddess who Chikane cursed to look like her and keep Himeko safe while she tried to enact her plan to kill gods. Himeko immediately abandons the fake and joins the dark side after finding out where the real Chikane is and finds out about the goddess later. Shenanigans ensue and Chikane and Himeko die to go to the next reincarnation while the goddess still in Chikane's form makes out with Souma.
