Nah it was blatantly gay, he even tells Sakura in ep. 27 (or 28, I forgot but it's one of those) that he likes Yukito in that sense. But then we are told it was the effect of magic or some shit, but that felt sorta like a cop-out. On the other hand at some point he had a simultaneous crush on both Sakura and Yukito at the same time, which besides being mildly hilarious when it manifested while both characters were present in a scene, it'd be somewhat plausible to consider that him having a crush on two people at the same time would be justified by entirely different reasons. In the same episode he tells Sakura about this, he also explains that people with magical powers are naturally attracted to each other, so they might've actually given this some thought and did this to set a precedent for the explanation that is given later on.
