Just finished "Seven Deadly Sins". I liked all of the characters, except for Meliodas and Elizabeth, who I really felt were bland and detracted from the series as a whole. Her personality is "Gets molested a lot" and his personality is "generic cocksure protagonist. Diane, Ban, King, Hawk, and everyone else was fun, and I wish the series had just been about them.

I just finished the series today as well, and quite enjoyed it. King and Diane were the characters I enjoyed the most, their backstory was pretty touching and their fighting styles and attacks were the most interesting of the group.
Will probably pick up the manga too, though I hear the anime took a lot of liberties.

They always have been. Everytime somebody super powerful is revealed you never get a good resolution to their defeat. Galan literally shit all over the sins and then they go to the hyperbolic time chamber for like 5 chapters and suddenly melodias can kick his ass easily. When the sins were revealed I basically said "yep the sins are fucked because these guys are too powerful", and then the powerups happened. Feels underwhelming every time it happens. Take HxH for example, the fucking ants were gods and could easily kill a high star hunter from like 100 miles away after sensing him for a split second. When they were killed by a rag tag group of shitters and a nuke it just didn't feel right.

Powerlevels are good, because they cue you, the viewer, as to whether or not the protagonist is expected to win.
For an example of why this is important, look at Mondaiji, where our protagonist spends the first eleven episodes breezing everyone, and then in episode twelve we're expected to buy that he's not going to do the same to the end-of-series boss, and we just don't because he's spent the entire series under no credible threat whatsoever.
This is where powerlevels come in: sure it's cheap, but if it's announced before hand that "Holy Shit! This is the first time in the whole series I've seen someone with the same powerlevel", we the audience now know that the protagonist might lose, and the situation is different from all the other times in the past when he walked it.
