The only reason I watched the show initially is because of the character design.

Circular arguments for 3 episodes involving skeletons and bullshit seems like a very convincing argument to me.
Then again, I couldn't take the show very seriously at all and I honestly prefered the second part of it when everything became much more light hearted. It depends on the person I'm trying to convince I suppose.

I was pretty sure they didn't get together in the anime. I know in the manga they didn't get together until the last special chapter which was like over a year storywise after the final battle.

I honesty liked the first part more, but doesn't mean I didn't enjoy the generic MC arc.
Overall is one of my favorite animes, the drastic change of heavy atmosphere to light hearted in the middle of series reminds of SAO after episode 14, except in this series they pull it off.

While the second part wasn't bad at all and the ending closed everything satisfactorily without plot holes, I felt the mood change was too big and it felt a bit lackluster, especially when compared to the very intense first part.
I guess it's other of the things that makes it a pretty unique anime. Are there others that makes such drastic mood changes between the cours? Zetsuen No Tempest went from gritty action and suspense to almost romance and comedy.
