Well, yeah- the whole idea of his character seemed to be that he felt like he felt like he was hot shit due to his lineage, which made him a cocky dumbass who eventually got killed and surpassed/succeeded by people from "inferior" lineages. The first thing we see him do is shit on Waver for even suggesting that he could possibly be better than himself, and then he gets owned hardcore by Kerry and Waver winds up not only surviving the HGW when he doesn't but moves on to become hot shit in the magi association.
