It had a lot of impact on me, which made the pomf hit me even worse. It doesn't help that I had somehow avoided spoilers about MUV-LUV entirely, so everything caught me by complete surprise.Actually found old chat logs on my laptop from when I got to the CHOMP scene and the scenes after. I learned some moon, but to master it to be able to read as fast as in English or in your native language is a feat that would take years of dedication that, frankly, not many people have if they have an unrelated job. The people I know who can actually read moon decently are almost all linguistics graduates. There're about two people who just got the hang of it themselves, but they still don't have jobs.
At my level I can read most VNs in moon with a dictionary, but unfortunately it takes ages so if there is a decent translation I'd very much prefer that. Plus recent PC re-releases often include all of the console-only upgrades that the originals didn't have.
