Obviously they are going to trap Fortuna's soul, the only question left is if Fuuta still dies or not to completely snuff out Fortuna's soul forever.
The entire manga could be averted if Fuuta hopped on a train to hokkaido to start a life of cohabitation with rune and never saw the crazy bitch trying to kill him again. It's not like she could find him if he just did it spur of the moment

I think Fortuna is going to become a completely separate soul from fuuta and his past lives.
Something along the lines of "all the soul energy fractured his spirit" or some shit. The personality know as fortuna was always some kind of parasitic negative spirit entity type thing that had been hitching a ride on fuuta's soul.
Koko is gonna split fuuta and fortuna (even though she doesn't know) and the part that's gonna dissapear will only be fortuna's half, Rune also probably knows more than she's letting on.
This is sorta hinted at when fuuta argues with fortuna about how fortuna keeps pretending he's smart even though they're the same person and Fuuta has some of the worst grades
But ultimately spascifica is gonna deus ex machina the shit outta this story anyways

Why does Fortuna have to die though? I mean it's been made excessively clear that he knows something more and it's continually hinted at that the future isn't set. I have a feeling he's doing what he's doing for some other reason than just having Rune be human. My assumption is he just wants to stay with East, Rune, and Koko forever in a consistent infinity, and that his only goal is to stop Koko from killing Fuuta and finally making amends so they can fuck into oblivion. Also it's clear that all the spirit circle does is make the individual conscious of their past lives and connect them to another. How else would all of the friends of Fortuna and Koko constantly come back throughout the arcs? It seems to me that the cycle is present regardless of Fortuna's actions, which just leads me to question what the fuck he's doing.

The spirit circle is like a deus ex tool that let's you manipulate spirit shit, being able to remember/view past/future lives is just a single function. Sorta like how programs run on a piece of hardware, the spirit circle is essentially hardware for spirit manipulation. This is why it's the ultimate invention for fortuna, a user interface to bridge between the physical and spirit

What striking each other with the circles did was make it so that Koko and Fortuna's past/future lives would always interact in the form of one-sided or mutually destructive conflict. Neither one of their spirits will become "complete" and they'll continue to clash unable to form bonds.
My question is that what happens to koko's spirit? Does she have past/future lives where Fuuta doesn't exist because she's destroyed his spirit? Can she view those lives? Does that mean she's sure she destroyed Fortuna's spirit?

He went from being super genius, to mad scientist, to a family man, to a MASS MURDERER, to an incidental terrorist, to Necromancer, to ACTUAL terrorist, and he'd have become the universe in itself if it weren't for Spascifica. Lafalle's arc had the most "intrigue" to it so it remains the most interesting. Especially with that ending.
This was more of an "Answers" arc where shit goes down and continues to go down forever until the manga ends. Now I'm rereading things.

It momentarily become barren at the last. It's likely similar to what we saw during the Lafelle arc. The land becomes barren because the spirits are in use. I mean this is all theory bullshit, but I'm just considering things from what we've seen thus far. I think the morality of it depends on whether or not the spirit energy he is using can return once he destroys the spirit circle, because as it is it seems to be the same as the tower, simply storing souls without them truly living or thinking or doing much of anything other than powering himself.
I could see this ending like butterfly effect with the spirit circle breaking and the cycle of Koko and Fortuna restarting without them remembering or hating each other. I just find it hard to believe that we'd go through the whole Lafelle arc and learn that you can put all the souls back into the universe without it having something to do with the future of the story.
