Pic related gets all butthurt about Hunters traveling to the Dark Continent because it's dangerous and several people got killed last time it was explored, and forbid anyone from going there again.

This is the same guy who's happy to kill hundreds of aspiring contestants in the Hunter Exam by trapping them, forcing them to fight murderers, letting them get eaten etc.

Kind of diminishes the emotional impact of his death when you really think about it.
>>
The difference is that those contestants in the Hunter Exam were just weak shits that wouldn't have ever amounted to anything anyway. Also he did try his best to keep things reasonably safe for them and bail them out if he could, he just didn't lose any sleep over it if they did die because they were obviously just too weak anyway.

Traveling to the Dark Continent could get even strong, seasoned hunters killed, and those are far more valuable than some weak shits who don't know what they're getting into.
>>
>>124970823
The mangake just made shit up as he went along.
>>
>>124970823
I never cared about him as a character, so his death didn't bother me too much.
>>
>>124970926
>because they're weak, he doesn't care if they die
Wow, what a sociopath. Kind of makes you wonder why he was prepared to sacrifice himself to safe humanity; this is what they call a contradiction.

It also doesn't make him any less of a ginormous hypocrite.
>>
>>124971091
He just wants to see people reach their own potential. Those who would die during the Hunter Exam probably didn't have much to begin with.

The problem with Dark Continent is not that weak people die, is that they die and might come back.
Its why they are called disasters you illiterate reader.

That said, Hunters are butt hurting monsters who only care about Ambition.
They are weird.
>>
>>124971091
He wanted to fight the strongest being, not save humanity.

Typical HxH fanboy, aggressively insults someone that didn't interpret a small nuance the same way he did. You idiots are about as savage as they get.

Also, he clearly didn't want anyone else to die after the first expedition. You're the one who needs to read properly I'm afraid.
>>
>>124970823
He didn't make the rules for the hunter exam, and as he said to Killua, they only seek the strong
Netero didn't want people to go to the DC because each time someone went there, they had to bring another calamity into the "real" world
>>124971091
>save humanity
He wanted to finish his mission, which is why he didn't sit down to talk with Meruem in the first place

>Also, he clearly didn't want anyone else to die
But thats wrong
He wanted people to die in droves, so they could move towards their ambition.
He let the loosest killer on the continents get a Hunter Card because he knew he had ambition about killing people.
If didn't really care about Gon's ambition to explore the place either, so long he knew that Gon understood that ambition equals the fact you need to power to perform.
There is also the fact he didn't go over there to drag Grandafather Goonaruza back either.

That's because everyone who comes back from DC brings shit worse than the ants.
>>
>>124972760
How is this even remotely possible? What's so special about elephants that lets them survive this hell?
>>
>>124972576
Yeah definitely this.
The most obvious time is when Nobunaga has them trapped and Gon says that Killua isn't allowed to sacrifice himself so Gon can escape but Gon is. But he's pretty much always a selfish hypocrite.

They're probably with that big lizard thing next to them.

What emotional impact? You weren't supposed to feel sad when he died m8, he was a badass through and through.
>>
>>124972947
Those aren't elephenats m8.

All those are species that exist outside of their islands.

>>124972947
Probably numbers

The fact they they are the size of 50x50x80 meter houses?
>>
>>124970823
Anyone who joins the Hunter Exam should know what they're getting into.

The dark continent is apparently insane, where even the strongest struggle to survive.

Plus it's possible he only done it to protect his Son from going back, then asked the Association to help his son.

He never claimed to not be a Hypocrite, and he pretty selfish is some ways, he showed that by how he handled the Kind
>>

>>
>>124972760
>togashi spent two years drawing this
>>
>>124971091
>Kind of makes you wonder why he was prepared to sacrifice himself to safe humanity

Because the Hunters association was hired to deal with the ants and if they failed it would have ruined their reputation. He talked about all that shit before the fight even started.
>>
>>124972947
>he thinks its real

Hunter x Hunter is fiction you fucking retard.
>>
>>124970823
First of all he did not kill or force any contestant to do anything, they knew all the risks of the exam before applying.
Second he forbid traveling to dark continent not because he cared about the lives of people traveling there but of what they may bring bad which could cost lives of innocents.
>>
>>124973273
I don't think he drew it.
>>
>>124973434
So all the young, ambitious contestants have to die because they tried the exam despite not being good enough? Stop trying to justify this sociopathic writing, it's stupid any way you look at it.
>>
>>124973789
>muh morals
>>
>>124973789
Yes. They should have trained for their ambition.
>>
>>124973789
>Stop trying to justify this sociopathic writing

I really don't fucking get what it is that you're trying to argue, you've made this thread several times before as well. Are you trying to say "sociopathic writing" is synonymous with bad writing? Because that would be wrong obviously, but if that's not the case then what the fuck is your point.
>>
>Entire backstory of wanting to find ultimate strength
>Contemplates during the fight if he found it yet
>Initiates a fight with something he knows he has basically no chance of winning

Don't think he was meant to be a character you sympathize with
>>
>>124973862
Yes, because 12 year olds well and truly realize this. Good on the Hunter Association for letting children take an exam where several people brutally die every year, Netero is very much a sane, likeable person.

>>124973939
Touchy touchy.

Unintentionally writing Netero to be a sociopath is indeed bad writing. Togashi treats death like nothing, and clearly doesn't expect his viewers to care that a jolly, seemingly likeable old man is happy to let people (children even) die for trying to reach their dreams, all because "they weren't stronk enough".

Shit writing is shit, sorry buddy.
>>
>>124973789
What do you think being a hunter is? All laughs and fun? No, fuck that shit nigga, you wanna be a hunter you gotta be ready to die, ready to kill, regardless of how good you are. Hunters take on the most horrifying shit the world has, from people, to beasts to everything in between, sure some choose cushy jobs, but thats their right for passing. If you can't even fucking survive the tests to become a hunter, what would be the point of letting them become one. Otherwise they just suck up resources that actual, real hunters need. Sure it's a bit far to have tests that end in many people dying, but guess what, tough tits. They knew the risks, they were ready for that shit, and they were given ample chances to back out before the dangers started.
>>
>>124974222
>Good on the Hunter Association for letting children take an exam where several people brutally die every year
Gon had to get Mito's authorization and i assume it's the same for every other children, so it's on the parents
>>
>>124974222
>Netero is very much a sane, likeable person.
>Unintentionally writing Netero to be a sociopath is indeed bad writing.
Since when did you think this? Netero is a fucking nutjob, the intention to write him like that is fully there. Netero might care for humanity as a whole, enough to do his job properly, but Netero's main goal, his main joy in life, is fighting strong stuff. He was happy to fight Meruem, but soon realized the ant outclassed him by leaps and bounds. At which point he had no choice but to use the bomb to finish his mission. Netero was in no way a sane man, to be in his position and be sane takes one hell of a person, but he was also a realist. If you didn't have the skill to survive the test, but took it anyway, then you would die, thats the facts, plain and simple.
>>
>>124974222
>Unintentionally writing Netero to be a sociopath
>literally was thankful for the tens of thousands of innocents being dead because it made his fight with Meruem possible
>unintentional
Are you okay, anon?
>>
>>124974372
>but Netero's main goal, his main joy in life, is fighting strong stuff.

That and the hunters association.
>>
>>124974222
>Unintentionally writing Netero to be a sociopath
How the fuck was it unintentional? It was obvious. The hunter world is established as fucking harsh and hunters are established as selfish from the beginning, Netero included.
