Personally it feels as though the characters are merely a vehicle to move the plot forward. It's hard for me to be attached to a show when I have neither a positive or negative reaction to the characters even if the setting, tone, and/or plot is interesting.

And it's a plot-centric story... That hasn't had enough plot, just bits and pieces.
It tries to be a puzzle it wants us to solve, but it's not a puzzle we care about.
It's got Homestuck structure. But unlike Homestuck, which had progression from the very beginning (though slow slow slow because the story itself is just really long), Punchline started, sputtered and is now running in place.
And the MC doesn't interact with anyone! The main character, the character we're supposed to be interested in, is literally a ghost in spectator mode doing jack shit unless a Deus Ex Machina event demands some of that sweet cinnamon. He doesn't interact with the girls, the girls don't interact with him, and it's all just flat.
Oh, the land lady is a robot with a boring backstory that was kind of pointlessly taking up minutes of air-time, you say? How droll. Is there anything else about her? Please pass the potatoes.

It oozed with coming of age and sex.
Punchline just has nosebleeds. Does it mean anything? Is there a point to this? Is this show just lolrandumb, or is there an something it wants to say? It doesn't need to be about sex, either! Even with all the punchline shots.

I like it but it's a bit too immature at the times as far as how the MC handles himself around women. It's just the typical otaku autism relatability stuff we see in ever show. I'll give the story a chance to raise the stakes but right now it's shit and kind of difficult to watch.
Still one of the better shows this season by far. The presentation is good.
