I'm not really sure about your preferences but the plot kinda intrigues me in the later volumes and having a non-tsundere 1st girl also made me pick the novels. As for volume 1-4 the formula goes like this

Horizon is great. I'm at 3B and it's really enjoyable to read. I guess it helps it's got a great translator for most of it.
I recommend starting from 1A even if you've watched the anime though, since it's honestly a lot more coherent and well paced.
