They should have adapted Heaven's Feel. They're doing a lot of filler episodes to meet the 2-cour requirement with UBW. Instead they're going to cram the much larger HF into a few movies whilst continuing to spread UBW as far as it will go.

HF itself is not best route for someone who don't know about others two. Most of the characters just dies slightly after their first appearing. HF is the final part of F/SN, you should already know something about setting, servants and masters at this point and writer is not going explain anything again. So original scenario without any new parts will be not very interesting for a newcomer.

It's not as cut and dry as that. Shirou always tries to help people, full stop. HF wasn't just about him, it was about mitigating a realistic approach to what he personally wanted to do. Kirei said it himself, he wants it both ways.
The issue with the Superhero end is that if you are fixated on just one objective, than you can he easily tricked. It's like with Kiritsugu, he was so obsessed with the grail magically making everything better he was led to many unsavory dealings, eventually killing his wife and making his daughter's life hell, for nothing. All because he was desperate to make this seemingly wish granting device work. The moral of that ending is that if you embrace the "ends justify the means" too strongly, you'll trip over it someday. Sometimes the sacrifice is pointless, and sometimes it isn't necessary.
The thing with Shirou in HF is taking a practical application of his ideal and seeing how he works on the obstacles with people conspiring against him in the background. Not a cut and dry "I pick a side".
