The people who will be put under the impression that Hachiman likes Ebina don't necessarily mean anything to Hachiman either. Ruining Haruno's show is something we both understand and acknowledge and so is not a point to talk over.
I was never saying Hayama was a perfect guy, or that he wasn't selfish, or that he was only trying to help 8man. Hayama did what he did to try and prove a point to 8man. It's what he thinks could have helped him if it discouraged 8man from sacrificing himself. It's also a way to show Haruno he's not her puppet anymore. It's probably also his way of paying back or even out what Hachiman did for him at Hachiman's expense. There are many reasons, but to say that Hayama wasn't trying to do something for 8man is not true at all.

and all I did was reply to your question "[Why not] do anything other than force the issue when your friend clearly doesn't want you to?" Then you went off about how he didn't sacrifice anything when that's clearly wrong, since it's clear that his plan of a very similar nature to Hachiman's, and that if Hachiman sacrifices anything while executing his plan, so did Hayama with the stunt he pulled now.

Yes and it doesn't help that afterwards he said that that is the only way he knows how to help him further cementing the fact that you can only help others by sacrificing yourself. Yeah he did show the part about feeling shitty, he nailed than, but he didn't argue about efficiency and showing results. It was what I was getting at.
