It's not like conjurers who can use restrictions/rules in the creation of their weapon in the first place. Not stuff to gain situational advantages. In general I think enhancers are the great in team situations but weaker in 1v1s where other nen types (especially conjurer and transmuter) can just give themselves an advantage with their hatsu.
Though conjurer abilities can also be straightforward, like crazy slot just summoning really strong weapons.

It's the opposite, Kurapika's master explained it, enhancers are the strongest in 1v1 fights because they hit stronger and take less damage even if you're at the same level
Conjurers can only get the upper hand with huge restrictions, like Kite's inability to chose his weapon or change it before using it, or Kurapika's pledge
The only way for any nen user to beat a stronger opponent is through the restriction/condition system, if you were an enhancer and had an ability that would make you twice as strong/fast and give you tons of aura but that you could only use like once a year, you could probably beat an opponent much stronger than you with it

I think when Togashi wrote that he was still perhaps thinking from the ''conjurers can't make anything a normal human can't make'' perspective and he was still intending the nen contract Kurapika used to make his hatsu powerful as special and unique, when later it turned out basically all conjurers do something similar. I was talking about a regular brawl, with no hatsu involved. By the time of their last fight, Knuckle and Gon dealt pretty much as much damage as eachother, even if Gon wasn't as good as him.
If Kurapika's master taught him that making a covenant could make shit stronger, it probably was going to be a pretty basic rule, why would it be special?
Also, except for Gon who is like 13 and still somewhat average, most enhancers we saw fighting had the upper hand

I don't think they follow the basic rules that every other category follows, including strengths and weaknesses. It's only stated that they're down at the bottom because Manipulation and Conjuration have the best chance at developing into Specialization auras.

So, wait. Netero is a confirmed Enhancer, but the 100 Type Guanyin Bodhisattva is Conjuration technique, right? Why would he need a Manipulation technique to control it? Most manipulators stand still and stick needles or something in order to gain control of the target; Netero did not stick anything into the Bodhisattva and he used hand motions to control it.
Anyways, it seemed to me that he conjures up that shit and enhanced it to be stronger and faster. His 0 Hand attack seemed to like a combination of emission and transmutation; he changes his aura into "light" and then fires it.
Speaking about emission, is it possible to have some sort of teleportation technique? Short range teleportation, and teleportation of a specific body part to avoid damage (think "coolest guy" in Nardo). Fast enough so that it can only be rivaled by Killua's Godspeed.

Because he was naturally strong as fuck either way. If he was enhancer he would probably just punch the ground and shatter the land. You can have a manipulator that can manipulate the heart itself to make it stop without a lot of restriction but still manipulation would be so strong. In average, emission is just not that great. If you have enhancement and a gun you are almost an enhancer by default. Same for a conjurer with bullets with some special property. Enhancers are just the least useful ability overall. Still better than manipulator as how rare great manipulation skills seem to be.
