Basically, edgy characters are characters who live literally "on edge", meaning, they see the world as black/white in the most extreme way mostly due to a bad past.
So you take a character like that and and make it go through the story while interacting with the MC or doing whatever, and you expect said character to have some kind of development throughout the story.
When they have no development whatsoever and just remain in their own little edgy world without ever being influenced by others and eventually calm the fuck down, it gets tiresome, repetitive and unconvincing, and that character eventually ends up being annoying.
