Is this the best show SHAFT has ever produced?
>>
Best? No. Most underrated? Probably.
>>
>>124230386
It's up there.
GG absolutely butchered the subs, though.
>>
>>124230622
I'm using watching the WhyNot batch. Not sure if there's a difference in quality.
>>
>>124230386
That's not SZS. Also the manga is 10x better.
>>
>>124230459
>Most underrated? Probably.
Am I literally the only person who liked Natsu no Arashi?
>>
>>124231853
Im with you bro

Natsu no Arashi is my favorite shaft
>>
>>124230386
Top 5 maybe.

>>124231853
I think Natsu no Arashi is awful, one of SHAFT's worst, and that's saying something. Great OP though.

catchy
>>
>>124230386
not sure if it's the best but it's definitely up there.

not sure if the manga is over yet but the scanlations are fucking terrible for the most part unfortunately.
>>
>>124231934
that's quite insulting considering shaft created that horrible Vampire Bund anime

The only weak parts of NnA are the first and last episodes of both seasons. Everything inbetween was good and golden
>>
>>124232060
one of SHAFT's worst, not their definitive worst. Bund is indeed absolute crap and worse than NnA, yes.
>>
>>124232060
>that horrible Vampire Bund anime
Don't forget Mekaku. I'd take Vampire Bund over that pile of shit any day.
>>
>>124232140
It's a toss up for me, Bund and Mekaku were both unbelievably terrible.

What? No they're not. They're consistently high-res with perfectly readable and coherent English. Unless there are some older scans I'm not aware of or something. The only problem is that they're missing some chapters between when the scanlators stopped and Crunchyroll picked it up.
>>
SHAFT rough order

Bake>Madoka>SZS=SoreMachi=Denpa>Hida>Maria>shit>Arakawa=Rec=Paniponi=Nisekoi=Sasami=NnA>Bund=Mekaku

Not included: Mahoromatic, Negima, Graffiti, other stuff

Their ep of Kino was good, too.
>>
no one mentioned monogatari yet. I'm proud of you, /a/

Thinking about Natsu no Arashi brings back a lot of good memories.
Arashi is a wonderful girl. The upbeat feeling of the show despte the actually tragic setting was quite interesting.
I remember lots of movement while characters did nothing but talk, there was always something to look at.
The bright colors being used constantly made me feel like "Summer", it was a nice feeling.
Salt guy showing up was always a blast. The story times were funny as heck. The Ops and Eds were wonderful. Bellybuttons.
This was Chiaki Omigawas first real role after Maka from Soul Eater, I loved her character in this. Actually I loved all the characters!
I miss this show. I miss Arashi. I love Arashi.
>>
>>124232600
What is this based off on?
Animation? Adaptated story?
>>
>>124232687
how much I liked the SHAFT anime of each. List would likely look very different if based upon other criterion.

>S2 never

What went wrong?
>>
>>124232654
Your feelings towards /a/ don't matter if you don't feel like capitalising is worth the effort.
Also did you read the post just above yours?
>>

>>
>>124232750
salami-san was just ok

>Putting Nisekoi in the same category as Paniponi and Arakawa
>Calling Paniponi and Arakawa shit
Does having shit taste hurt?
>>
Shaft is really good at striking oil or a fucking sewer pipe.
>>
>>124230386
yes

considering how much crap shaft produces, just saying "yes" doesn't mean much; so, I must add, It's a top tier slice of life
>>
>>124232792
Paniponi and Arakawa sucked, just like Nisekoi. I suppose Paniponi could be bumped up a tier, but it really hasn't aged well. Where's your list, I would also like to claim you have shit taste.
>>
>>124232750
What was there to even like about Salami? I'd never seen a show more all over the place than it.
>>
>>124232750
it was a fucking mess
>>
>>124232883
The girls obviously.
>>
>>124232934
And soundtrack.
>>
As someone who read the first bunch of the Sasami LNs.
Shaft did a great job in turning it into something watchable.
Nisekoi is general a great adaptation.
Koufuku was turned into a gimmick 4-koma into a comfy SoL series - also dat soundtrack!
Mekaku was busted from the very beginning because of Jin's micromanagement of the franchise.
>>
>>124232658
Loved the character designs, it a had crazy retro touch which worked quite well with the theme of the show.

But how did the series even end? Is there a sumary of the ending or something?
>>
>>124232975
I suppose you're not wrong, but they all still kinda suck.

I didn't realize I cared so much for this show. It's like remembering an old crush.
I gotta rewatch this show

It was surprising how Salami-san was so average despite having such a wild and interesting premise, a cohesive, well developed theme, good characters, and a great OST. I don't know what it was lacking but it was just "meh." I felt like I should have enjoyed it much more than I did.
>>
>>124233094
Shaft's show are general pretty rewatchable.

I think that are the unique quirks in their shows which make them so remarkable.
>>
>>124232960
I remember liking the soundtrack quite a bit. So much variety.

I am not sure how it ended. Acording to wikipedia the manga went on for a year after the second season ended, but I doubt there will ever be an S3
>>
>>124233198
It sucks that the manga never got a full translation.
>>
>>124233105
Yeah, there were genuinely lots of people who liked all of those shows. It happens, somehow.
>>
Which episode of Natsu no Arashi was storyborded by Jin Kobayashi again?
>>
A soremachi thread overtaken by Salami and NnA, of all things. Ouch.

>>

Must be a cool feeling to storyboard the last episode of the own show.
>>
>>124233311
wow, pretty cool. I wonder how that came about.
>>
Now that Nakamura is dead, will a SHAFT show ever be directed by a non-Shinbo person ever again?
>>
>>124233446
You mean like all shows since the one episode of Hidamari X 365?
>>

It was the last time he worked as director.

Also Soredemo is pretty fantastic.

Natsu no Arashi was the reason why I was crazy for himecuts for several years.

It had the most delicious tomboy in it and lots of legservice. That's pretty much all I remember about it.

I'm here too. I hope Madoka shitheads go home

>>
>>124233660
Gosh, ain't that the truth. Kon is one of the best tomboys ever.
>>
>>124233660
Kon from Soredemo and Jun from Natsu no Arashi

shaft has good taste in picking shows with best girls
>>
>>124233689
ARASHI PLEASE GO BACK IN TIME AND INVENT BLUERAYS
>>
>>124233535
Yes, but he's not wrong. Shinbo's directorial position on most Shaft shows is in name only.

>>124233311
Jeez, it's sad how much less charming and expressive the animation art is compared to the storyboard.
>>
>>124233804
It could always get a remaster or whatever. Well, it won't because it sold like shit, but it's technically possible.

I still prefer Arakawa. The source material had really good sense of humor, the voice cast was incredible, all OPs and EDs were awesome (especially the animation of Cosmos vs. Alien and Sawashiro's singing) and Shaft's style really fit the atmosphere of the series.

So far I've liked every single modern (Tsukuyomi and newer) Shaft show I've watched, excluding Mekaku City Actors (a mess production wise) and Nisekoi (generic boring harem), haven't seen Vampire Bund, though. In general I'd say Shaft has had really good luck picking its series to adapt.

>>124231853
Nope, I liked a lot, too. After listening to the opening a million times (also singing to it), the web radio and the cover songs (covers of old Japanese hits sung by the seiyuu), it really made me feel like rewatching it. The second season even apparently reaired recently and the raws are on Nyaa.
>>
>>124233837
In which case, who deserves directorial credit? For some shows there are obvious names you can point to, but for others not so much.

I've read the manga, which is excellent. If the anime is anywhere near as good, I'll watch it.
>>
>>124233975
It's just a SHAFTified version of the manga.
>>
>>124233975
Haven't read the manga but the series is pretty fun.
>>
>>124233975
All I remember is the OP and the fantastic last episode.
>>
>>124233965
Most shows have Shinbo in a Chief Director role and another guy as Series Director and then episode directors. The Series Director is the equivalent to a regular director.
>>
>>124232975
Nisekoi is complete trash tier
>>
>>124234171
I find the adaptation watchable, whereas the manga is not readable.

That's pretty impressive in my book.
>>
>>124234212
I don't think they improved the manga much. If anything, the manga is better because it's possible to read it more quickly than it's possible to watch the anime. God, Nisekoi sucks.
